To mourn the death of the Delhi Rape Victim UTSAH organises a Prayer Meet at the Dighalipukhuri Park involving the concerned citizens of our civil society where all mourners condemned all forms of violence against women and strongly expressed that it is time for a major social transformation. Following the Prayer Meet, their was a silent procession circumventing Dighalipukhuri. Eminent members of the civil society like film personalities Jerifa Wahid, Kapil Bora, Santana Bordoloi, TV Personalities like Florence Handique and Akashitora and many prominent members representing different organisations were present at the Prayer Meet.

a group of students from the UTSAH On- Site School performs at the UTSAH Christmas Dinner. This is an effort to make our students of the On – Site School feel involved in spreading cheer and goodwill to all mankind. Youth leader Gaurav Gogoi encouraged the students while distributing pastries and other goodies amongst them.

Utsah organized a regular health camp in collaboration with the Down Town Hospital Guwahati at the Hafiznagar No2.Slum Area in Bamunimaidam. 200 beneficiaries underwent check up and received medication for diseases like Flu, Jaundice, Diarrhea, Skin Diseases.

UTSAH On Site School celebrates its very First Year. Special Guest for the Event was Dr. Bidyut Das Boro Deputy Superintendent of Police (Chandmari Jurisdiction). Students of the School took an active part by singing songs and performing the Bihu Dance. The function ended by everyone singing ‘Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram.

On request by Sangeeta Chowdhury and Maini Mahanta, UTSAH facilitated an interaction with Priyam Hazarika wife of Padma Vibhushan Lt. Dr. Bhupen Hazarika with a group of accomplished women of Guwahati City, through its initiative, the ‘UTSAH Dialogues’ at Brown Bean Cafe, Uzanbazar, Guwahati. The interaction entailed her life as an Ugandan Diplomat and as a wife of the Iconic Dr.Hazarika.

Elderly citizen rescued by UTSAH-Universal Team for Social Action and Help from GS Road Guwahati.UTSAH Model Of Rescue of Children and Senior Citizen in distress. In the meantime,the Paltan Bazar Police located the family.After tough police action,the family has taken back the senior citizen back home.

A function was organised to mark a joint initiative education program between the Smile Foundation India and UTSAH at the UTSAH on-site school located at the Hafiznagar, Slum Area, East Bamunimaidam, Guwahati. This function was attended by the Smile representative Ms. Baisakhi Sarkar. Smile Foundation India has come forward through their Mission Education Programme with UTSAH in help running the UTSAH On-site school more efficiently. Smile Foundation’s Mission Education is a national level programme from Smile which focuses on basic education for the less privileged children and youth. This joint initiative would help UTSAH in imparting better standards of education to the students by being able to take in qualified teachers which would directly impact the children.

3 and 4th of August,2012: The recent spectre of Ethnic Violence has disrupted the peace of the BTAD(Bodoland Territorial Areas District). Chairman of UTSAH Miguel Queah and Executive member Shankardev Chowdhury led a team to visit ground at the Chirang District. to take stalk of the situation and provide necessary Relief to the victims of the massacre.(Prior to the visit the UTSAH Team had launched a 4-Day Relief Material collection drive in Guwahati city that was co-ordinated by UTSAH Vice Chairperson Pallavi Barua, assisted by Executive Member Shankardev Chowdhury.).The Utsah Team also met the Deputy Commissioner Puru Gupta and other officers from the Administration to get a detailed report of the Relief and Rehabilitation Process.Miguel Queah and Shankardev Chowdhury interacted with the wards of the Minority camp at Duturi which had 536 people and the Noapara Bodo Relief Camp at Noapara which had 397 people.40 % in both the camps were children.
     
     
 
     
2nd October 2012

On the 2nd of October, Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated at the Utsah On-site school at the Hafiznagar Slum Area in Guwahati. This day marked the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.Chairperson Miguel Queah spoke about the significance of Gandhi’s ideals in our daily lives. 95 students and all the residents of the slum area attended the programe and offered floral tribute to Gandhiji.

Miguel Queah was accompanied by Social Entreprenuer Ranjan K Barua.The Utsah Team also met the Administration to get a detailed report of the Relief and Rehabilitation Process.Miguel Queah interacted with the wards of the Minority camp at Bhotgaon Village which had 915 people and the Jamuguri Bodo Forest Relief Camp at Gaossaigaon sub division which had 1300 people.

Silchar MLA Sushmita Deb visits the Utsah Hafiznagar On-site School.She interacts with the Women and Children of the Hafiznagar Slum Area and spoke on Child Rights, Education,Gender and various schemes available under the Government Services for the Urban Poor.The MLA also distributed books and stationaries amongst the children of the on-site school. She encouraged the students to attend school regularly and motivated the parents to secure the lives of their children by educating them.The programmes was attended by 300 people from the slum area.

A recent case of abuse on a 17 year old Girl revealed the shocking atrocity of violence against women in Assam.UTSAH(Universal Team for Social Action and Help) working for the protection of Women and Children, in strong condemnation of this outrageous incidents organized a protest at the Dighalipukhuri Park in Guwahati.200 people from civil society, including youth attended the programme.Civil Society personalities Natwar Thakkar,Hasina Kharbhih, Maini Mahanta,Zerifa Waheed,Shruti Agnihotri, Miguel Queah, Florence Handique,Pallavi Barua,Manjula Barua,Garima Garg joined the protest.Previously UTSAH has urged the Superintendent of Police Kamrup Metro District to take immediate action to nad the culprits.
     
     
 
     
On the 12th June

Guwahati UTSAH organized “The World Day against Child Labour” to provide spotlight on the right of all children to be protected from child labour and from other violations of fundamental human rights , at the Hafiznagar Slum area, Bamunimaidam.The International Labour Organization (ILO) launched this initiative in 2002 to focus on the global extent of child labour and the actions and efforts needed to eliminate it.UTSAH organized a grassroot awareness initiative at the slum area of Hafiznagar in Bamunimaidam at 9:30 AM in coherence of Utsah’s ideal of protecting the Rights of the Child through programme based initiatives.

Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup metropolitan district, Shri. Ashutosh Agnihotri(IAS) accompanied by the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Shri. Puru Gupta(IAS) visited the slum area as guests for the programme.The Chairperson Miguel Queah,Vice Chairperson Pallavi Barua and Chief Spokesperson Shankardev Chowdhury started the programme with a detailed presentation on the “Rights of the Child” as espoused in the handbook published by the National Human Rights Commission of India.This was an attempt to educate the Children of the onsite school as well as their parents about the ills associated with Child Labour. Shri. Agnihotri, expressed his appreciation to UTSAH for their efforts and went on to say that “ Childhood is all about studying and playing and not about working in hotels and garages”.
     
     
 
     
UTSAH celebrated World Environment Day 2012 - 5th of June 2012

5th of June 2012: UTSAH celebrated World Environment Day 2012 at the Hafiznagar Slum Area, Bamunimaidam, Guwahati. Renowned Actor Chetana Das interacted with the residents regarding Environment Protection & Care. Ms.Das also led the tree planting campaign wherein 52(fifty-two) fruit and medicinal tree saplings were planted all around the Slum Area
     
     
 
     
UTSAH organized a prayer meet in memory of Richard Loitam - 3rd of May 2012

3rd of May 2012, UTSAH organized a prayer meet in memory of Richard Loitam the Manipuri teenager who was brutally murdered in Bangalore. The procession that followed after the prayer meet was a message to the Judicial and other law enforcement agencies in the Kartnataka Government as well as the Central Government to take positive steps to hasten the process of justice in the murder case.The rally was attended by 490 people who signed a petition that was later sent to the Office of the Prime Minister.

     
     
     
15 students from the UTSAH Hafiznagar Onsite School performed two Assamese songs - 14th of April 2012

14th of April 2012:On the 14th of April, 15 students from the UTSAH Hafiznagar Onsite School performed two Assamese songs at the Latasil Bihu Field Guwahati during its Bihu celebrations.This was the first time that the children were participating at a public event where the audience strength was more that 600 people. The performance received great appreciation from the audience as well as the Bihu Organizing Committee.

     
     
 
     
UTSAH 1st Foundation Day - 28th March 2012

28th March 2012-UTSAH 1st Foundation Day: Utsah celebrated its first Foundation Day on March 28th 2012 at Pragjyoti ITA Machkhowa,Guwahati.The evening was graced by Tarun Gogoi,Chief Minister,Assam as the Chief Guest.Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister for Environment Rockybul Hussain along with many other invited guests.Beginning with a performance by Sangeet Natak Academy awardee Indira PP Bora, the evening saw a piano recital by Ronojit Chaliha, Kathak performance by Vijay Srivastav and group and a chorus by children from the UTSAH onsite slum school of the Hafiznagar slum.The evening ended with a spectacular group song by popular singers from the northeast Rudy Wahlang, Tipriti Kharbangar, Joshua Queah, Mrinmoyee Sharma Goswami, Sumon Kalyan Dutta and Zublee Baru, coordinated by Nise Meruno and harmonized by Chorus group Zowe Madrigal from Nagaland.

Gaurav Gogoi interacted with the children of the UTSAH Hafiznagar On-site school as also with the residents of the slum area.Gogoi spoke about child education & rights,women rights,sustenable development and other relevant social issues.Gaurav Gogoi is curently the Official Youth Programmes Advisor to UTSAH.Gaurav Gogoi also organized few activity based fun-programmes with the children of the UTSAH on-site School.

On the 3rd of February 2012 Mr.Jeff Reneau,American Diplomat and Director of the American Center of the US Consulate Kolkata,in solidarity to UTSAH’s efforts on Child Education,Child Rights and Services to the urban poor visits the UTSAH Onsite Hafiznagar Slum School and Slum site.Mr. Jeff Reneau interacts with the women and children of the Hafiznagar Slum area on social issues related to Women and Childrean.Reneau also indicated towards a possible tie-up with UTSAH to promote Social Services and Volunteerism amongst the youth.
