Miguel Das Queah, an alumni of St.Stephen’s College, New Delhi, founded UTSAH in 2011.Mentored by Former President of India Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Miguel started UTSAH, to give voice and support to children affected by all forms of violence. Miguel was instrumental in conceptualizing the innovative Assam Police Sishu Mitra Program, one of the largest and comprehensive Child-friendly policing programs in the country and has been the driving force behind the establishment of the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Resource Center to assist the police in crimes against children. In 2013, he was recognized as an “Influential rising leader of Asia and Asia Pacific region” by the East West Center Hawaii, USA. In 2017, Miguel was selected as an Acumen India Fellow. He was also awarded by the International Human Rights Defence Committee, India, for his contribution to childrens’ rights in India in 2019. Miguel is one of the youngest activists in Assam to be appointed as Member of the Child Labour Task Force, of the Child Protection Committee and of the Joint Task Force for Women and Children, Kamrup Metro District, by the Government of Assam. He is also the Government appointed Support Person in Child Sexual Abuse cases. He regularly represents Assam, in all policy level consultations organized by the Government of India, Supreme Court Committee on Juvenile Justice, State Governments among others.



Tazkir, a post graduate in Law from Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, Punjab has extensive knowledge and expertise in the area of Child Rights Governance through his association with various government agencies, UN Agencies and reputed CSOs since 2010. Previously, he worked as a Programme Manager – Centre for Child Rights at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam – a UNICEF supported Centre – responsible for providing a range of technical services to various departments of the Government of Assam. Tazkir has worked with CHILDLINE India Foundation as a Zonal Coordinator for a National Study on mapping of CCIs in the country (Jena Committee Report) and was overseeing 8 States during this PAN India Study. He has also worked as a ‘State Child Protection Consultant’ for UNICEF Assam, wherein he had closely worked with the Government of Assam for rolling out components and strengthening the Juvenile Justice Service Delivery Structure and towards implementation of Integrated Child Protection Scheme. Tazkir’s first professional engagement in the sector was in the capacity of a consultant with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in the Complaint’s Division. He was also a part of the prestigious UNICEF KCCI (Knowledge community centre of India) in 2011. He has interned with organizations like CHRI Delhi (Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative), HRLN Assam (Human Rights Law Initiative) and CCS Bangalore (Centre for Civil Society). Apart from that Mr. Tazkir has various online publications in the area of Human Rights Law.



Richa has been working in the development sector for 7 years. Her expertise lies in the area of child rights and child protection. Richa was engaged as Research Associate with Centre for Child Rights (CCR), National law University and Judicial Academy (NLUJA), Assam before joining UTSAH. Richa also worked with CHILDLINE India Foundation as a Zonal Coordinator (South) for the National Study on Review and Mapping of CCIs in India (Jena Committee Report). She worked for two years in NIPCCD, Delhi before involving in a Baseline Study with the Association for Stimulating Know How (ASK) in Bangladesh. Richa has a post graduate degree in Social Work with specialization in Child Rights and Family from Stella Maris College in Chennai. She is the Coordinator (Social Service) at UTSAH and is responsible for case management of all child sexual abuse cases.



Savera holds a graduate degree with honours in Psychology from Delhi University and a post graduate degree in Counselling Psychology from Christ University, Bangalore. She has worked extensively in the area of Child Rights since 2015 with UTSAH and has trained and facilitated workshops for Police officers, Counsellors and other stakeholders in the area of Child Protection. Savera also has experience of working with children with autism, learning difficulty, anxiety, depression. Savera has received training in Cognitive Behaviour therapy (CBT), Art Based Therapy. She follows a Humanistic Approach and Integrative approach in Counselling while interacting with survivors of child sexual abuse in the capacity of Counsellor at UTSAH.



Nibirima holds a B.A., LL.B degree from North Eastern Regional Institute of Management (NERIM) Law College, Guwahati under Dibrugarh University. Prior to her engagement with UTSAH, she was associated with the organization in the capacity of an Intern where she was involved with the programs team of Child Friendly Policing (Assam Sishu Mitra Programme). Nibirima has experience in criminal law, working as an advocate in Dibrugarh District and Session Court since past 7 years. As a Senior Legal Associate sheis responsible for assisting and handling all the cases of child sexual abuse in court of law where UTSAH extends help as Support Organization.



Parnasha graduated in Sociology from Hindu College, University of Delhi and has a Masters in Sociology from the Delhi School of Economics. This is Parnasha’s first professional engagement where she is engaged as Program Associate (Social Services). Parnasha is primarily responsible for case management in UTSAH’s capacity as a POCSO support centre



Bikash joined UTSAH as Admin Officer where he extended his support to the Program Teams of UTSAH and managed UTSAH’s Office. Previously, Bikash worked on a targeted intervention programme on Prevention of HIV/Aids with Gold NGO supported by ASACS. Bikash holds a graduate degree in Education from Gauhati University and a post graduate degree in Social Work. Bikash is presently associated with UTSAH as a Program Associate.



Suraj holds a graduate degree from Gauhati University. He works in the capacity of Administrative (Admin.) Assistant at UTSAH



Anju is a resident of Hafiznagar No. 2 community and has been associated with UTSAH since 2012 as an Office Assistant. Anju also works as community mobilizer and helps in the smooth running of the organization..



Aparajita has been working as the Accountant with UTSAH since 2017. She holds a masters degree from Guwahati Commerce College, Guwahati.
